The resort
Les 2 Alpes is a resort built along a long main street at 1,650 m, between the two old villages that named it: Mont de Lans at 1,300 m and Venosc, the crafts village below, linked in by gondola since 1972. Bars and large residences line the main resort street.
The skiing
The ski area extends from beginner terrain near the resort through Vallée Blanche, Belle Etoile, Le Diable and La Fée to Toura and the glacier. The new Jandri 3S cable car, opened in December 2024, connects the village with 3,200 m in about 17 minutes. Upper glacier skiing reaches 3,600 m; check which runs and valley descents are open before planning a long route.
Snow & weather
High glacier terrain and the long runs home can have different conditions, since the resort itself sits at 1,650 m. The month-by-month record, in °C and °F, is on the Les 2 Alpes snow & weather page, and a glacier skiing window runs into early summer, on dates set each year.
Lessons & ski schools
ESF Les Deux Alpes and ESI 2 Alpes offer lessons for a range of ages and abilities. Compare meeting points along the long resort street, and confirm the course level for snowboard, freestyle or off-piste instruction.
Passes
Day, multi-day and season passes are available through the lift company’s official shop, along with pedestrian tickets for glacier excursions. The Supernova season pass includes Les 2 Alpes, Alpe d’Huez and La Grave, but you need road transport between those areas.
Where to stay
The resort extends along a long main street toward Alpe de Venosc and the Diable lift. Check the actual distance from your accommodation to the lift you want to use. Mont de Lans and Venosc offer quieter village settings below, with an onward journey to the main ski area.
Getting there
Grenoble is the airport at 120 km (Lyon 160 km, Geneva 220 km), and Grenoble's TGV station sits 70 km away with Transaltitude coach transfers up. Drivers leave the highway at Vizille (exit 8) and follow the RD1091 into the Oisans. Winter tires or chains apply (November 1 to March 31).
Beyond the pistes
Pedestrians can ride up to the glacier for the ice cave and the 3,600 m viewpoint. The guides' office runs snowshoeing and glacier hiking, and the gondola down to Venosc (workshops, crafts, an old street) offers a half-day outing off skis.
Who it suits
The glacier and snowpark give spring skiers and park riders reasons to consider Les 2 Alpes. Its 2,300 m vertical allows long descents when the full route is open. Venosc offers a traditional village base with a gondola journey to the resort.
Quick answers
How high is the skiing in Les 2 Alpes? Pisted glacier skiing reaches 3,600 m, with the resort at 1,650 m and a top-to-bottom vertical of 2,300 m that you can ski without touching a lift. The new Jandri 3S cable car covers 1,650 to 3,200 m in 17 minutes.
Is Les 2 Alpes linked to Alpe d'Huez? Not by lift: they face each other across the Oisans. The Supernova season pass covers both plus La Grave, but you need road transport between the areas.
Can you ski Les 2 Alpes in summer? The glacier runs a spring–early-summer window (in 2026: May, then into early July for training camps) on top of the winter season. High-summer skiing depends on conditions each year: check the official dates before building a trip around it.
