Insulation and a longer cut
Picture combines 60 g/m² polyester insulation with a two-layer waterproof outer. Its lining also uses moisture-wicking zones and microfleece panels, rather than relying on the outer fabric alone to manage comfort.
The straight, longer cut provides coverage below the waist. There is room to plan a removable midlayer for cold days, but the jacket’s own insulation stays put when you take that layer off.
Wet snow and warmer runs
The Dryplay membrane, fully taped seams and water-repellent finish are the main protection against wet snow. Together with the adjustable openings, they make the Object worth considering for a trip with both snowy spells and milder lower runs.
Zippered underarm vents have mesh behind them. Open them before a warmer descent leaves you sweating, particularly if you started the morning with extra layers for the lifts.
Hood adjustment and useful storage
The hood has a brim and three-point adjustment. Hook-and-loop cuffs, a drawcord hem and an elasticized snow skirt let you close the jacket around gloves and pants.
The chest pocket has a waterproof YKK zipper and an included goggle cleaner. There are also zipped side and inner pockets plus a separate lift-pass pocket, so everyday items do not all have to share one compartment.
Where we suggest it
- Davos in March: Keep a removable midlayer for cold starts, then use the vents as lower runs warm through the day.
- Châtel in February: Built-in warmth suits the colder upper slopes, while underarm vents help during active skiing.
