A shell for active skiing
Rab bonds the GORE-TEX ePE membrane between an outer fabric and inner backing. There is no insulating fill, so you can dress lightly for exertion and add a warm layer for stops or cold descents.
The regular fit and shaped sleeves are intended to allow arm movement without an oversized cut. Rab lists the jacket at 558 g in size M; allow room for a warm midlayer if you plan to spend much of the day on lifts.
Protection and airflow
The 70-denier outer fabric is part of a three-layer waterproof construction. A helmet-compatible hood has one-handed adjustment and a stiffened peak, while extended cuffs and a rear hem adjustment help close the openings.
Two-way underarm zips offer direct airflow during climbs. The front zipper also opens from both ends, giving more freedom around the hips when sitting or moving over awkward terrain.
Snow skirt, storage and rescue reflector
The powder skirt zips off, allowing you to remove that extra waist closure when you do not need it. External pockets and a deep internal pocket provide storage for items such as gloves or climbing skins.
A RECCO reflector helps equipped rescue teams search for a wearer. It is not a substitute for an avalanche transceiver. For cold, lift-heavy days, this jacket also needs more deliberate layering than an insulated resort model.
